WiFi Survey & Network Engineering FAQs

Straight answers from engineers about WiFi site surveys, predictive design, Ekahau tools, deliverables, timeframes, coverage areas and support.

Who is behind Titan Grid and how long has it been operating?

Titan Grid Pty Ltd (ABN 32 698 417 668) was founded by an engineer who has worked in WiFi networking and cybersecurity since 2008, and was registered as a company in May 2026 in Melbourne, Victoria. The team today includes four senior network engineers and two site technicians, bringing that depth of hands-on experience to every project.

What is a WiFi site survey and do I need one?

A WiFi site survey is a professional assessment of your wireless environment using specialized tools like Ekahau. It measures signal coverage, identifies interference, tests roaming performance, and validates capacity. You need one if you are experiencing dead zones, slow speeds, dropped connections, or planning a new wireless deployment. A survey before deployment prevents expensive rework — it is always cheaper to design correctly than to fix later.

What is the difference between a predictive and on-site survey?

A predictive survey uses building floor plans and material properties to model wireless coverage before any equipment is installed. It is ideal for new builds and budget planning. An on-site (active/passive) survey measures real-world conditions using professional tools. It is essential for existing buildings where wall materials, interference sources, and neighbouring networks affect performance. For critical deployments, we recommend both — predictive for design, on-site for validation.

Compare predictive and on-site surveys

How long does a WiFi survey take?

A typical on-site survey takes 1-3 days depending on site size and complexity. A small office (under 1,000 sqm) can be surveyed in a single day. A multi-floor building or campus may take 2-3 days. Predictive surveys typically take 2-3 business days to complete after receiving floor plans. Report delivery follows within 48 hours of survey completion.

What tools do you use for wireless surveys?

We use Ekahau Professional — the industry gold standard for wireless site surveys. This includes Ekahau Sidekick for spectrum analysis, Ekahau Survey for active/passive surveys, and Ekahau Pro for predictive modelling. Our engineers hold ECSE (Ekahau Certified Survey Engineer) credentials. We also use AirMagnet and iBwave for specialized environments.

About our Ekahau surveys

Do you work with our existing wireless vendor?

Absolutely. We are vendor-agnostic and work with Cisco, Aruba, Meraki, Fortinet, Ubiquiti, Ruckus, and many others. We do not resell hardware, so our recommendations are unbiased. We will tell you if your existing equipment can be optimized or if replacement is the better long-term solution.

Why vendor-agnostic advice matters

What deliverables do I receive after a survey?

You receive a comprehensive engineering report including: coverage and signal strength heat maps, interference analysis, capacity planning recommendations, AP placement diagrams with mounting details, channel and power settings, a prioritized remediation plan, and estimated costs for any recommended changes. All documentation is suitable for internal IT teams, facilities managers, and executive stakeholders.

Do you provide ongoing support after the survey?

Yes. We offer managed IT services including 24/7 network monitoring, proactive maintenance, quarterly performance reviews, and on-demand support. Many clients transition from a one-off survey to an ongoing managed services agreement to ensure their network continues to perform as designed.

How much does a WiFi survey cost?

Pricing depends on site size, complexity, and survey type, so every survey is quoted individually. We provide fixed-price quotes with no hidden fees. Contact us for a detailed estimate.

Do you work outside of Melbourne?

Yes. While we are based in Melbourne, we regularly travel to regional Victoria and interstate for enterprise projects. Interstate travel costs are included in project quotes for larger engagements. We have completed projects in Sydney, Brisbane, Perth, Adelaide, and across regional Victoria.

What is your response time for support requests?

Managed services clients receive guaranteed response times: Critical (network down) — 15 minutes. High (significant impact) — 1 hour. Medium (partial impact) — 4 hours. Low (general inquiry) — next business day. These SLAs are backed by our 24/7 monitoring platform.
